How to distinguish brass from pure copper by chemical method?

Brass contains zinc, which can be reacted with strong non-oxidizing acids (such as dilute sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid) and dissolved gradually with bubbles.

Zinc in brass can be used to react with sodium hydroxide.

If we use physical methods, we can directly see the color, purple red is pure copper; or density, the greater density is pure copper.
